Roll out about ½ a tablespoon of fondant into an oblong circle and gently flatten one end to create the ladybugs. Apply a small amount of water to a ½ teaspoon-sized ball of black fondant and press it onto the flattened end. To create the lines and dots on the ladybug’s back, I used a toothpick and the blunt end of a skewer, but you could also use a paintbrush. Let it dry for one to two hours before applying it to the cake.
