Ingredients:

  • Dates – 50 grams
  • Raisins- 50 grams
  • Cherries- 50 grams
  • Pistachio nuts – 25 grams
  • Broken Cashew – 25 grams
  • Rum or brandy or red wine- 300 ml
  • Butter- 100 grams
  • Brown sugar- 150 grams
  • Flour – 100 grams
  • Eggs – 3
  • Almond Nut Powder – 50 grams
  • Nutmeg powder – 2 tsp
  • Cinnamon powder – 2 tsp
  • All Spice Powder – 1 tsp
  • Clove powder- half teaspoon
  • White oil – 50 ml

Method:

  • All the dry fruits should be chopped and soaked in 200 ml of red wine in a sealed container and kept in the refrigerator for at least a week. If kept longer, the taste will increase. But not more than 15 days is prohibited.
  • Beat the butter and sugar together until the sugar melts. Break the eggs into the mixture and beat well to make a smooth cream-like mixture.
  • Sift the flour and mix it with butter, sugar, and egg mixture. Mix almond powder, nutmeg powder, cinnamon powder, clove powder, white oil, and soaked dried fruit pieces to make a fine mixture.
  • Preheat the oven to 150°C. Pour the mixture into a cake tray lined with butter paper and bake in the oven for 2 hours.
  • After the cake is ready, when it is cold, make small holes in the cake and pour rum or red wine into it. Wrap the whole with butter paper and keep it in the fridge. After at least one day of soaking like this, it will be ready to serve.

Some tips for making this plum cake recipe perfect:

  • No baking powder is used in this cake preparation. Because this cake is a bit sticky & tight instead of fluffy. But if someone wants to make a sponge, then add a spoonful of baking powder, baking soda, and a pinch of salt.
  • As the cake ages, its flavor increases. For this, a small amount of rum should be poured into the cake every day and kept in the fridge, wrapped in butter paper.
  • Although this cake is served with all kinds of dry fruits. But fresh fruit can also be used with it. In that case, fresh fruit should be soaked in rum or red wine for at least 12 hours. Only orange peels do not need to be soaked.
